Inspired by his late mother, Queen Elizabeth II, King Charles made a subtle appearance in the new movie Paddington in Peru. Queen Elizabeth had previously shared a memorable moment with a CGI Paddington Bear during the Platinum Jubilee in 2022, where she invited him to Buckingham Palace for tea and marmalade sandwiches, a clip that captured the hearts of viewers worldwide.
The third installment of the Paddington franchise includes a brief cameo from Charles at the beginning of the film. As reported by Hello!, Paddington is seen holding a letter with a stamp bearing the King’s portrait. This stamp features a rare front-facing image of King Charles, similar to the usual profile seen on real stamps, as pointed out by the magazine.

In addition to the King’s appearance, Paddington in Peru also includes a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II, which was added with approval from the royal household.
Ron Halpern, an executive at StudioCanal, shared that the royal family consented to the inclusion of the Queen’s image, and producer Rosie Alison confirmed that they were pleased with it, though they kept the gesture understated, much like Paddington himself.
The Queen’s humorous skit with Paddington during the Jubilee was kept secret, even from some of her closest family members. The Telegraph revealed that the video was so well-protected that even her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren weren’t aware of it beforehand.
Royal photographer Chris Jackson captured the moment Prince George and Princess Charlotte first saw the clip at the Platinum Party at the Palace in June 2022. He shared their precious reactions on Instagram, recalling the moment when the Queen retrieved a marmalade sandwich from her handbag, calling it “a privilege to be there.”
