Brianna “Chickenfry” LaPaglia recently shared how her experience at the 2024 Golden Globes was allegedly overshadowed by her ex-boyfriend Zach Bryan’s controlling behavior.
During a candid conversation on the BFFs podcast, LaPaglia opened up about the emotional abuse she claims to have endured from the country music artist, revealing that he pressured her to sign an NDA, which she refused. She also accused him of attempting to dictate her clothing choices and social media activity.
Both LaPaglia’s and Bryan’s representatives did not immediately respond to PEOPLE’s request for comment. Reflecting on the night, LaPaglia said, “That was insane. It was the first time he tried to control my outfit and my posts.”
She described how, after attending the Golden Globes, she shared a series of photos, but Bryan didn’t approve of her dress. “He told me he didn’t want to date someone who presented themselves like that,” LaPaglia said. “Then he unfollowed me and everyone else. He ruined my night. I flew home right after.”
She went on to explain how he seemed to sabotage any positive experiences in her life. “Whenever something went well for me, he would make sure to ruin it. He ruined my birthday, my tour, and even the Golden Globes. Any accomplishment I had for myself, he had to destroy.”
According to LaPaglia, the evening started off well until she sent him photos. “At first, he was happy, then suddenly it changed to him saying, ‘I can’t believe you’re wearing this… blah, blah, blah,'” she recalled.
“It ruined the night. I spent the entire time crying to Grace [O’Malley], and he unfollowed me because of the dress. He told me to delete certain Instagram posts, and I felt like I had to change my image to match his.”
She added that after being made to feel self-conscious, the final straw came when she saw Bryan repost a picture of her at the Golden Globes, captioning it, “You are so beautiful.” “It was such a tug of war in my mind,” LaPaglia said. ”
He was freaking out behind the scenes, unfollowing everyone, but then he posted that picture of me. It was all just so confusing.” LaPaglia and Bryan went public with their relationship in July 2023, and after dating for over a year, Bryan confirmed their breakup in October.
