On Monday’s episode of The View on ABC, Ana Navarro suggested to President Joe Biden that he consider pardoning his son, Hunter Biden. Navarro shared her thoughts, saying, “Joe, since they’re already attacking you, why not pardon Hunter? After all, America just pardoned a criminal convicted of felonies.”
Hunter Biden’s criminal convictions stem from lying about his drug use when applying for a gun permit and illegally possessing the weapon. He is also the first child of a sitting president to be convicted of a crime.
She went on to reference past controversial pardons, saying, “America just elected a president who pardoned Jared Kushner’s father, who set up his brother-in-law with a prostitute and then sent those photos to his sister despite a dispute over their parents’ money.
He might even pardon some of the January 6th insurrectionists. So, Joe, it’s your son. He likely wouldn’t have faced prosecution if his last name wasn’t Biden. You’ve got two and a half months. I’m fine with you pardoning Hunter.”
The White House has made it clear that no such pardon is planned, with Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre stating, “Our answer stands, which is no.” Donald Trump has not dismissed the possibility of granting a pardon to Hunter Biden, remarking during a radio interview last month that he “wouldn’t take it off the books.”
