On Friday, a prominent Democratic super PAC revealed the start of a new initiative aimed at tracking and gathering information on President-elect Trump’s administration and his nominees for key positions. American Bridge 21st Century launched what it has named “MAGAFiles,” which is designed to keep the focus on Trump’s incoming administration.
In a press release, the group emphasized, “With our extensive and effective opposition research capabilities, American Bridge 21st Century is committed to ensuring that none of these ideologues escape scrutiny, while consistently reminding Americans of the extremist actions taken by the Trump Administration.”
The “MAGAFiles” will concentrate on three main areas. The first area will focus on vetting Trump’s nominees for various government roles, including those beyond the Cabinet. The initiative will also closely examine how the new Trump administration wields government power and will track Trump’s allies at both the federal and state levels, with a specific eye on the upcoming midterm elections.
Brandon Weathersby, the communications director, and Chad Smith, the research director, will lead the effort, according to American Bridge 21st Century. Trump has swiftly assembled a Cabinet primarily filled with loyalists, some of whom have limited experience in the agencies they are nominated to lead.
Among those chosen are former Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-Fla.) for attorney general, Tulsi Gabbard for director of national intelligence, and Robert F. Kennedy Jr. for the role of Secretary of Health and Human Services.
