On Thursday evening, police in East Ridge, Tennessee, responded to a call from a neighbor who reported seeing Caleb Disterdick, 26, covered in blood. The neighbor stated that Disterdick had approached him while he was mowing, prompting concern. Upon their arrival, officers detained Disterdick and followed a blood trail that led them into his home through the back door.
Inside the home, authorities discovered the body of Jason “Chris” Disterdick, Caleb’s father, who had been brutally decapitated. A large knife was found still embedded in his neck, confirming the violent nature of the crime. Caleb’s actions and the gruesome scene indicated a possible connection between him and the murder, leading police to begin their investigation.
Caleb Disterdick had sustained a leg injury, and emergency medical services were called to provide assistance. During this time, he made unsettling comments, including stating, “I had to protect the kids.” These statements, combined with his condition, led authorities to transport him to Erlanger hospital for treatment before placing him in police custody.
In a subsequent police interview, Caleb Disterdick confessed to the crime, repeatedly stating, “I killed my dad.” Based on this admission, he was charged with criminal homicide. The investigation continues as authorities try to piece together the events leading up to the tragic death of Jason Disterdick.
