A Missouri man, Jeffrey Goedde, 41, was charged with the murder of his father, Edward Goedde, 75, after he turned himself in to the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office. Jeffrey approached deputies, stating that he had “made a mistake” and wanted to surrender. He explained that he trusted the Jefferson County sheriff’s office more than the local police in Manchester, where the crime occurred. Despite his initial surrender to the sheriff’s office, he was handed over to Manchester Police, who were responsible for investigating the crime.
Upon arriving at the crime scene in Manchester, investigators found Edward Goedde dead inside the home with 50 stab wounds to his face and back. Police also detected a strong bleach odor in the house. Jeffrey Goedde reportedly admitted to striking his father, possibly using a kitchen knife and other weapons, but he claimed to have no clear recollection of the events leading up to the murder. He later acknowledged that he had “accidentally killed someone” when speaking to Manchester police officers.
In addition to the stab wounds, an autopsy revealed that the elder Goedde had sustained multiple injuries, including broken bones, strangulation, and blunt force trauma to his face, head, and back. Investigators discovered a kitchen knife in the trash can, which likely played a role in the attack. The nature of the injuries indicated a brutal assault, with the victim enduring several forms of violence before dying.
Court records indicate that Jeffrey Goedde has been formally charged with murder and armed criminal action in connection with the death of his father. The case has raised questions about the relationship between father and son, as well as the circumstances surrounding the fatal incident. Jeffrey’s actions and his decision to turn himself in may suggest a deep sense of guilt, though details regarding the motive remain unclear.
As the case proceeds, the community and investigators will likely seek answers regarding the reasons behind the attack and the full extent of the relationship between Jeffrey and Edward Goedde. This incident adds to the growing list of tragic family-related crimes, highlighting the complexity of domestic violence and the consequences of unresolved conflict.
