The Masaan actress Richa Chadda is back to grace the screens as she shares the first look of her upcoming film. Richa Chadda is known for her unusual roles since the time of her debut in the Bollywood industry. From being a foul-tongued wife to a gangster in ‘Gangs Of Wasseypur’ to her strong appearance in ‘Goliyon Ki Rasleela Ram-Leela,’ she was known for her supporting roles, which she portrayed beautifully. But things turned out in her favor when she began being the leading lady in the films. Richa Chadda is coming up in a new movie called Madam Chief Minister, scheduled to release this month.
The actress was cast in a 2015 award-winning film titled ‘Masaan’ that fetched her love and appreciation from around the world. She made her debut in a leading role and ruled the hearts of people with a heart-wrenching script the film revolved around. The film didn’t manage to grope audiences in theatres but received positive critical acclaim all across. Masaan was screened at the 2015 Cannes Film Festival and managed to fetch two awards.
Richa Chadda, however, managed to maintain her unconventional Masaan image. She is known for her de-glam roles and continued to portray the same. She has made her appearance in films like Fukrey, as Bholi Panjaban, Sarbjit, Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram Leela, Section 375, Jia Aur Jia, and many more, all her roles being powerful in their own ways.
Well, Richa Chadda is ready to step her feet in yet another unconventional role with her upcoming film ‘Madam Chief Minister.’ She took to her social media handles to share the first look of the film. In the digital poster, she is seen in a bob hairdo with a rough and bruised face, holding a broom in her hand. The poster reads, ‘Untouchable and Unstoppable,’ hinting about the caste being an element. ‘Madam Chief Minister’ is loosely based on the life events of the former Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh and the Bahujan Samaj Party supremo Mayavati.
Richa Chadda, during many interactions with her fans, has revealed that this particular film is very special to her. Her role in the film proved to be a tough one for her, but she is really grateful to have gotten an opportunity to collaborate with the team of ‘Madam Chief Minister.’ Written and directed by Subhash Kapoor, the political drama film is produced by Bhushan Kumar. The film is set in Uttar Pradesh’s Lucknow, and the entire sequence of the film has been shot there in a time span of 40 days from November 2019 to December 2019. The film was initially scheduled to have a theatrical release on 17 July but was postponed due to the global health pandemic. Before the title was confirmed to ‘Madam Chief Minister,’ it was originally titled as ‘Madam G.’
Apart from Richa Chadda, the film features Manav Kaul and Saurabh Shukla in key roles. The film also stars Akshay Oberoi and Shubhrajyoti in pivotal roles. No teaser or trailer has been released by the official team as of now, but we hope to see a glimpse of more information regarding the same in the upcoming week. The Hindi political drama is all set to hit the theatres on 22 January.
