The South Korean drama titled ‘The Penthouse: War in Life’ has been renewed for a second season. Written and directed by Kim Soon-ok and Joo Dong-min, the suspense drama made it’s debut on 26 October 2020 by premiering its first episode. It had a total of 21 episodes and aired its last episode on 5th January 2021. The show was scheduled to be telecasted every Monday and Tuesday. With a gripping and poignant plot it is made upon, the television series has managed to grope in various awards at the SBS Drama awards ceremony along with a great viewership that has fetched the show a top rank.
Starring Lee Ji Ah, Kim So Yeon, Eugene, Um Ki Joon, Park Eun Seok, and Yoon Jong Hoon in key roles, the drama primarily revolves and centers around three high society women Shim Su-ryeon, Cheon Seo-jin, and Oh Yoon-hee played by Lee Ji Ah, Kim So Yeon, Eugene respectively. The series got its name from a 100-floor luxury penthouse apartment named Hera Palace that is one of the most important elements of the show. The show revolves basically centers around the race and struggles to be on top, despite all odds. It shows how women have to be immoral at times to make sure their families are in a safe place. It even depicts how, at various times, power and money are enough to help you reach the pinnacle of your dreams.
The show successfully depicts the behind the scenes of class differences that exist in the society and how it affects an individual on a personal level, and at times, shatters him. Oh Yoon-he has always lived a mediocre life. She has never refrained from doing odd jobs to give her children a better life. She also feels that money and power are two things that are enough to outweigh a person’s talent. According to her, the way to success is rich because when you’re well to do, the world listens to you. So she wants to be a part of the high society so that his children don’t have to live the life she had so far. The story of women who have big ambitions in their lives and are willing to do anything to reach the pinnacle of success and protect their children isn’t so simple.

Being an intense suspense drama, the show has been renewed for a second season. Initially, the first season we’re supposed to have 20 episodes in total, but now the makers have decided to part it into two seasons. The second season is likely to have 12 episodes in total that is expected to go on air in February as per the rumor doing the rounds. The show, however, is still on the production date, and we have no official news regarding it. However, as per the reports, Junjin and his wife Dyu Yu Seo will make a special appearance in the show, depicting the role of a young royal couple. The second season of the show will premiere on Friday and Saturday instead of Monday and Tuesday.
