Emma Hernan is contemplating her future on Selling Sunset due to the way her personal relationships were handled on the show. In a recent interview with Vulture, published on September 13, Hernan expressed feeling “blindsided” by how her storylines were presented in season 8. She revealed that producers chose to omit a storyline in which she displayed vulnerability.

“I filmed scenes with the person I was dating at the time,” Hernan explained, noting her initial reluctance to share her private life but her decision to do so for the show. “I don’t understand why that wasn’t included, as I was quite open and vulnerable in those scenes, believing it would be valuable for viewers to see my experiences and dating life.”

Hernan clarifies that her relationship with the accused man was strictly professional, involving no inappropriate behavior

The notorious bite mark depicted on the show, according to Hernan, originated from her relationship, although its context was somewhat unclear. “I was puzzled by the decision-making behind how that was handled,” she said. “It seemed the producers preferred to leave me in the dark about what was happening behind my back.”

When approached by PEOPLE, Netflix declined to comment on why Hernan’s scenes were left out of the show.

Addressing allegations made by her co-star Nicole Young about Hernan dating a married man, Hernan firmly denied the claims. “Nicole’s accusations are baseless,” she stated. Hernan clarified that the man in question was a client from 2021, and there was no inappropriate behavior. “I merely showed him properties, and he later expressed interest in investing in my empanada business, which I declined. Nothing occurred between us—no physical contact at all.”

Hernan described her experience as deeply disheartening, feeling betrayed by those involved and perceiving the situation as slanderous. She emphasized her clear boundaries with the individual, stating, “There was no ambiguity. I’m disheartened by Nicole’s false claims.”

Though Hernan has “mixed emotions” about returning to the series, she was open to a reunion before the show’s cancellation, as she felt she did not have the chance to clarify her situation.
