Jax Taylor and Brittany Cartwright, former stars of Vanderpump Rules, have ended their relationship. Cartwright, 35, officially filed for divorce on August 27, nearly six months after announcing that she and Taylor, 45, were “taking time apart.” The filing comes shortly after Taylor completed a 30-day stint in a mental health facility.
Court documents indicate that the couple’s separation began on January 24, with “irreconcilable differences” cited as the reason for the split. Cartwright is seeking both legal and physical custody of their 3-year-old son, Cruz Michael Cauchi, while requesting visitation rights for Taylor and no spousal support for either party.
TMZ was the first to report the breakup, and a representative for the couple had no immediate comment. Cartwright previously announced their separation on February 29 during an episode of their podcast, When Reality Hits, expressing her desire to clarify their situation before the premiere of their new Bravo show, The Valley. She mentioned moving to a new home for her mental well-being, though the breakup remained emotionally challenging for her.
Taylor, initially claiming the split was “not divorce,” had expressed hopes of reconciling but acknowledged ongoing difficulties. Cartwright reflected on their turbulent marriage and indicated a potential desire to move forward separately.
Despite initial intentions to expand their family, their reality show captured the struggles leading up to their separation. Taylor will return to filming The Valley for its second season following his treatment, although Cartwright has chosen to distance herself from him moving forward.
