Fern Britton and Phil Vickery announced their separation in 2020 and now maintain a minimal level of communication, primarily for their daughter, Winnie, who is 23. In a recent interview with Woman & Home magazine, Fern, 67, shared that their interactions are limited and focused on their daughter, stating that she no longer needs to be involved in Phil’s personal life. “We communicate on a basic level, but his personal affairs are no longer my concern,” she explained.
Fern and Phil, who initially crossed paths on the set of Ready Steady Cook for BBC Two, publicly disclosed their split through social media. Fern’s Twitter post read: “After over 20 joyful years together, Phil and I have decided to part ways. We will always cherish our friendship and our wonderful children. We ask for privacy during this time. Thank you for your continued kindness and support.”
Since the breakup, Fern has expressed openness to new romantic possibilities but has no interest in cohabitation or remarrying. In a March 2024 interview with The Mail on Sunday, she mentioned, “I value my independence and freedom more as I age. While I’m open to meeting someone special who can tolerate me, I prefer not to live with anyone or take on domestic responsibilities. Separate homes suit me well.”
Fern is a mother of four, having twin sons Jack and Harry and a daughter named Grace from her first marriage to TV executive Clive Jones. Her second marriage to Phil brought them their daughter Winnie, who they continue to co-parent amicably. Reflecting on their past together, Fern noted, “Phil and I had great times and share a beautiful daughter, Winnie. We’ll always be linked by that.”
Fern now resides in Padstow, Cornwall, where she writes and enjoys her updated seaside home, which she has enhanced with a conservatory, an extension, and a converted barn for guests.
