Malika Andrews and Dave McMenamin recently celebrated their marriage with a heartfelt ceremony in San Francisco. The couple, both prominent ESPN reporters with a deep passion for basketball, tied the knot in August 2024.

Their wedding was infused with their shared love for the sport, featuring basketball-themed decorations and a functional hoop at the reception. This celebration honored their connection, which began when they first met while covering a Knicks game in 2017, as reported by Vogue.

Describing her feelings about the event, Andrews shared, “I was overwhelmed with happiness. It was everything that I hoped for.” Dave McMenamin, originally from Philadelphia, now resides in Los Angeles. Despite his relocation, he remains a devoted Philadelphia Eagles fan. When the Eagles reached the Super Bowl in 2018, McMenamin secured two tickets and took his brother, a fellow Eagles enthusiast, as a special gift.

McMenamin’s career in sports journalism started at Syracuse University, where he was a student manager for the 2003 national championship basketball team. He graduated from Syracuse’s Newhouse School of Public Communications in 2005.

Initially, McMenamin began his career ghostwriting for former NBA player Gilbert Arenas, creating engaging content under Arenas’ name. Although successful, he sought to establish his own voice and moved beyond ghostwriting.

For over a decade, McMenamin has been a sports reporter for ESPN, covering the Los Angeles Lakers and contributing to various ESPN platforms. His serendipitous journey to ESPN included an interview in 2008, which led to his hiring after being laid off from NBA Digital.

Alongside his journalism career, McMenamin co-authored the bestselling book Return of the King, detailing LeBron James’ remarkable return to the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Andrews and McMenamin’s wedding was held at Cavallo Point Lodge on August 24, 2024, a location with personal significance for Andrews. Andrews wore a Grace Kelly-inspired lace dress, and their celebration included a basketball-themed reception and Syracuse Spritzes, highlighting their shared experiences and interests.
