In her latest memoir, Selling Sunshine: Surviving Teenage Motherhood, Thriving in Luxury Real Estate, and Finally Finding My Voice, Mary Bonnet offers an unfiltered look into her personal life, touching on past relationships and a tumultuous marriage. In an exclusive chat with Us Weekly, Bonnet, 44, revealed that she changed the names of those mentioned to protect their identities. “I’m simply sharing my experiences,” she said, emphasizing her intention was not to cause harm.
Among the revelations is her brief affair with a nameless Major League Baseball player, which ended abruptly after she saw his wife at one of his games. “I refused to be the other woman,” Bonnet noted, explaining her decision to end the relationship. She also recounted a fleeting romance with Brad Fischetti of LFO fame.
Bonnet delves deeply into her second marriage, where she discusses a man referred to as “Drew” in her book. They became engaged within a year of meeting in 2008, and married six months later. “It was difficult to share the full extent of the relationship’s issues without damaging his reputation,” she confessed. Despite the challenges, including a miscarriage of twin girls conceived via in vitro fertilization, she tries to focus on the positive outcomes. “There’s a silver lining in every situation,” she reflected.
Having navigated various personal struggles, Bonnet now finds solace in her relationship with Romain Bonnet, her husband since 2018. She describes him as her steadfast support, “He treats every woman with respect and is consistently loving. He’s my rock.”
