Raised in Raleigh, North Carolina, Berrios attended Leesville Road High School. Although he received offers from prestigious football programs like Ohio State and Clemson, he chose to play for the University of Miami, close to where his father grew up in Homestead, Florida, as he told Forbes in July 2024.
Berrios explained that his childhood fandom for the Dolphins and Miami Hurricanes influenced his decision. When drafted by the New England Patriots and later the New York Jets, he humorously noted that his father had to change his team loyalties.
“The entire side of my dad’s family is from Miami,” Berrios said. “So, when I was drafted by New England, my dad was thrilled, but had to root against his Dolphins. Switching to the Jets meant my family had to cheer against the Dolphins. Signing with Miami felt like coming full circle.”

Berrios entered the NFL in 2018 when the Patriots selected him in the sixth round. His rookie season was cut short due to an injury, but he earned a Super Bowl ring after the Patriots’ victory over the Rams in February 2019.

In a December 2023 episode of Hot Mess, Earle recounted meeting Berrios at a party in Miami in February 2023. “He’s super cool and really nice, and two weeks later, I got invited to the Super Bowl,” she shared.
Despite their initial meeting, Berrios was ending a two-year relationship with Sophia Culpo at the time, which made Earle feel insecure. As a result, their interaction remained friendly rather than romantic. Berrios eventually asked Earle out on a date in March, surprising her with a helicopter ride over Miami.

Although they made their public debut on the ESPYs red carpet in July 2023, Earle and Berrios were not exclusive at that time. “A source told PEOPLE that while their red carpet appearance might seem like a formal announcement, they were still keeping things casual and not yet exclusive,” a source said. “They had agreed to remain non-exclusive.”
