Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively continue to stand by each other as they celebrate 12 years of marriage. Their wedding anniversary on September 9 follows a successful summer, with both actors achieving new heights with their acclaimed films Deadpool & Wolverine and It Ends With Us.
According to a source speaking to PEOPLE, “Blake and Ryan make an excellent team in both their personal and professional lives.” The source elaborated, “They are extremely supportive of one another. He takes great pride in her achievements, and they cherish celebrating the milestones they’ve reached together.”
The couple, who share daughters James, 9, Inez, 7, and Betty, 4, along with their newborn son Olin, first met on the set of their 2011 film Green Lantern. They married on September 9, 2012.
Lively previously shared with PEOPLE that Reynolds made thoughtful romantic gestures early in their relationship. She reminisced, “He used to send me a bouquet of flowers every week, accompanied by a card with a brief note about something that had happened that week. It could be something amusing or touching that one of us had said.”
She added, “It was like a little quote of the week. It was a beautiful and romantic gesture. Now we have four children!”
In a July appearance on Live with Kelly and Mark, Reynolds discussed how their date nights often revolve around conversations about their children. He recounted, “We went on a date recently, and our oldest was quite upset with us for going out. We ended up spending the entire time discussing our kids, despite expecting to talk about other topics.”
Recently, the couple was spotted in New York City on September 5. For Lively’s 37th birthday in August, they celebrated with a weekend getaway to Rhode Island with friends.
