David Beckham seems to be embracing his new role as a farmer. On Saturday, September 7, the 49-year-old former soccer star shared an in-depth look at his outdoor garden and farm area, which even included a cameo from his chickens, on Instagram.
In a lengthy video tour, which Beckham jokingly refused to shorten despite his wife Victoria Beckham’s suggestion, he walked through his garden. The fashion designer, 50, couldn’t resist poking fun at the post, sharing it on her Instagram Stories with a playful caption.
“Who is this man?” she joked, alongside several chicken stickers and a laughing emoji. “Give me back my husband!” Although her husband is very much present, he has fully immersed himself in his gardening and love for the chickens Victoria gave him as a Christmas gift last year.
David’s video began with a cheerful “good morning” greeting to his followers, as he showed off their five chickens while sporting a green plaid shirt and newsboy cap. He then shifted the focus to the garden at their Cotswolds property, featuring spring onions, plum trees, kale, wildflowers, and cabbage.
“Not bad,” David commented while proudly showcasing his vegetable patches. “We’ve got lots of potatoes. Today, I’m actually going to make crisps because I prefer savory over sweet.” Next, he highlighted the “berry area” of his garden before concluding the tour with a “morning update” on his farming activities.
“My kale is thriving 😆. I can hear my east end friends saying, ‘He’s changed’ 😆,” David humorously captioned the clip. “My wife asked me to shorten the video, but I didn’t, so apologies… My posts used to be about motorbikes and camping, now it’s kale, honey, and flowers for the house 🤔.”
Despite his newfound love for gardening, David hinted at getting back on the road soon, as he added a motorcycle emoji to his post. He also sent a sweet message to Victoria, saying, “You’re welcome for the flowers for the house 🌺.”
Victoria, who had a lighthearted reaction this weekend, has generally been supportive of David’s gardening hobby. In June, she shared a video on Instagram of him planting pink roses, humorously zooming in on his backside while he worked with a shovel.
“Just a regular Saturday in the country. David is gardening,” she said with amusement at the time, complimenting him with, “You look good!”
Beyond their shared gardening moments, David expressed admiration for Victoria last month during an event in New York City, where he praised her style and credited her for pushing him to experiment with his own fashion choices.
“She’s always given me that confidence, and she still does after 27 years,” David said, reflecting on their relationship after celebrating their 25th wedding anniversary on July 4. “She makes me want to look good and feel good.” He added, “She has a big influence on my style. When I wear something, her reaction tells me whether to keep it on or change it.”
