Selena Gomez and Taylor Swift share a mutual enthusiasm for Bravo shows. In a cover story interview with Vanity Fair published on Monday, Sept. 9, Gomez, 32, discussed her close friendship with Swift, 34, and mentioned that they often “compare notes” on Vanderpump Rules.
While Gomez occasionally seeks Swift’s advice on topics like music or steering fame, their conversations typically revolve around casual gossip. “She’s really like an older sister to me,” Gomez said about the 14-time Grammy winner.
The Only Murders in the Building star also shared that their discussions frequently center on the latest drama from Vanderpump Rules. “I’m into The Valley now,” Gomez stated, referring to the reality TV series spinoff. “I’ve watched every episode of Vanderpump, so I’m committed no matter what!”
In another part of the interview, Gomez disclosed that she currently has no plans to release new music, aside from tracks she recorded for her upcoming film, Emilia Pérez. These songs were written by French singer and lyricist Camille and Clément Ducol.
“I’m not sure if I’m ready right now,” Gomez admitted. “It’s a vulnerable space. Acting has always been my first love. Music has become a hobby that unexpectedly took off.” However, Gomez emphasized that music is still an integral part of her identity.
“I’m not going anywhere,” she assured. “I’m just not prepared at the moment.” Gomez and Swift first met back in 2008 while dating Jonas brothers (Gomez with Nick Jonas and Swift with Joe Jonas) and developed a lasting friendship.
Their bond has been evident through public displays of support, such as cheering each other on at award shows, celebrating milestones, and collaborating together. In the past, the Lose You to Love Me singer has performed with Swift during her tours and made a cameo appearance in Swift’s “Bad Blood” music video.
