Sophie Turner faced a challenging fall in 2023, but she quickly found her stride. Despite the sudden end to her four-year marriage with Joe Jonas, as noted in a court filing, Turner didn’t take long to start her healing process.
Indeed, the transition was a remarkable swift for her. On January 2, Turner celebrated her friends who supported her through the upheaval, posting on Instagram, “2023 was the year of the girlies. 2024’s forecast is looking fairly consistent.”
Turner’s close friends, including Taylor Swift, played an important role during this period. After Jonas filed for divorce on September 5, 2023, Swift, alongside other friends like Selena Gomez and Blake Lively, spent time with Turner, including attending a Jets vs. Chiefs game on October 1. During this time, Turner was also passing a custody dispute over her daughters, Willa and Delphine. The dispute saw a temporary resolution in October, and Turner later withdrew a lawsuit related to the matter after an agreement was reached.
In March, Turner’s lawyers sought to “reactivate” the legal proceedings, a move Jonas’ representative described as a “legal formality” while negotiations continued.
Reflecting on the media scrutiny following the split, Turner shared with British Vogue in May, “Those were the worst few days of my life.” She recounted feeling hurt by accusations suggesting she was neglecting her parenting duties, adding, “I kept having to remind myself that these reports weren’t true. I am a good mom, and I’ve never been a partier.”
Though their divorce details remain generally private, Turner and Jonas have managed to present a united front. Turner has been publicly supportive of Jonas on occasions like his birthday and Father’s Day. She previously noted to Porter that marriage should remain private and focused on the couple’s commitment rather than external aspects like the wedding dress or reception.
Turner even found humor during the pandemic lockdown, telling Conan O’Brien in 2020 that it provided an opportunity for more time together with Jonas, despite his social nature. The couple initially described their separation as a “united decision” despite speculative narratives.
In her post-split recovery, Turner began a new relationship with Peregrine Pearson, a British aristocrat. They were seen publicly together in Paris in October and went Instagram-official in December. Pearson, also re-entering the dating scene after his relationship with Princess Maria-Olympia of Greece and Denmark ended, and Turner made their public debut as a couple in February 2024.
Turner’s summer was marked by her continued enjoyment of life and new experiences, including attending Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour in London. Reflecting on her current state, Turner told Harper’s Bazaar, “Honestly, what my life looks like these days is what a Hugo Spritz tastes like. I’m embracing a lighter, fresher kind of energy.”
As Turner looked forward to 2024, she expressed hope and optimism, emphasizing a positive outlook for the new year. Despite past difficulties, she remains focused on the future and her family, acknowledging the challenges but remaining confident in moving forward.
