Celebrating their first wedding anniversary, Robin Roberts and Amber Laign have marked a huge milestone in their relationship. The Good Morning America co-anchor, aged 63, and her wife, Amber, held a touching celebration over the weekend, opting for a personal and intimate dinner at home.
The couple, who exchanged vows in Farmington, Connecticut, last year, chose to commemorate their anniversary with a cozy dinner setting at their residence. Robin shared a glimpse of their special evening on Instagram, featuring a beautifully arranged table in a garden patio, complete with candles and elegant flowers.
In her video, Robin expressed her delight, saying, “Since we never actually got to eat at our wedding, a lovely gift from a longtime friend, Pam [Guglielmino], and the chef from our wedding night.” She was clearly thrilled by the thoughtful surprise orchestrated by their friend Pam.
The dinner included a personalized menu that highlighted their names and a message saying “Yes to dinner, always.” The menu offered a feast of shrimp cocktail, autumn salad, pan-seared salmon with lemon dill sauce, wild rice, haricot verts, and a dessert of white chocolate strawberry bread pudding along with slices of their preserved wedding cake.
Robin shared her gratitude in the caption, stating, “What a special time at home celebrating our 1-year wedding anniversary. Thanks to dear friend @pgoog and Chef Katrina from @farmingtongardensct for a memorable night! Forgive me if I’m a little bleary-eyed tomorrow on @goodmorningamerica. Totally worth the late night.”
Their anniversary festivities extended to a second Instagram post featuring a whimsical card that celebrated the traditional first-anniversary gift of paper. The card, humorously labeled “Rock Paper Scissors,” with “rock” and “scissors” crossed out, playfully underscored their enduring commitment with a candle marked “One year down, forever to go.”
Robin also shared behind-the-scenes moments from their wedding day on Instagram Stories, including a fun dance-off between her nephew Jeremiah and GMA weekend co-anchor Whit Johnson, and clips from their cake-cutting ceremony.
Before their anniversary, the couple celebrated another important event—Amber’s 50th birthday. Robin honored Amber with a festive Instagram post, showing Amber in a pink birthday sash and holding a crown-shaped wand. “Please join me in wishing my sweet Amber a Happy 50th Birthday!!” Robin wrote, highlighting Amber’s joy and the impact of her presence in her life.
The journey of their relationship, which began with a blind date in 2005, has not been without challenges. Robin recently opened up on The Jamie Kern Lima Show podcast about the early days of their romance, revealing how Amber helped her overcome unhealthy relationship patterns.
Reflecting on their initial struggles, Robin admitted she once considered ending the relationship due to its lack of drama. Amber, however, addressed Robin’s doubts with surprising clarity and composure, at the end convincing Robin to stay.
This pivotal moment helped Robin realize the difference between genuine love and the dysfunctional patterns she had been accustomed to. As Robin aptly summarized, it’s “one year down, forever to go,” and fans are eager to see what lies ahead for this remarkable couple. Happy Anniversary, Robin and Amber!
