Jenn Tran is focused on moving forward. During the dramatic Bachelorette reunion on September 3, the 26-year-old disclosed that despite Devin Strader’s attempts to engage with her during commercial breaks, she had no interest in conversing with him.
“I wasn’t really paying much attention to him,” Jenn told Us Weekly in an interview released on September 4. “I was in my own space.” Devin, who ended his engagement to Jenn just two months after the show in a brief 15-minute call, had hoped for more interaction from her.
Jenn acknowledges the difficulty of their split, noting Devin avoided her calls for a month after ending their engagement
“He asked me, ‘Why aren’t you looking at me?’” she recounted. “I replied, ‘Well, because you kind of suck!’” Jenn admitted that revisiting Devin’s proposal during The Bachelorette finale was challenging but anticipated it, adding, “I wanted him to see it again too.”
In the end of her split with Devin, Jenn has been managing this period of her life as best as possible. “It’s definitely tough,” she told E! News on September 4. “I knew it wouldn’t be easy. He had been avoiding my calls, and I hadn’t spoken to him or seen him in a month. So, I knew it would be hard for me because those feelings were real.”
Now, as a contestant on this season of Dancing With the Stars, Jenn expressed her eagerness to move on. “I’m excited that it’s over with and looking forward to this amazing time in my life now.” Devin, who is 28, defended his decision to end things with Jenn during the reunion, explaining that once they were out of the limelight, he struggled to meet the expectations they had for their relationship.
“I found myself unable to live up to what you need and deserve,” he said. “Watching myself contribute to your unhappiness hurt me. You shouldn’t have to lower your standards to be happy.” He also confessed that he had doubts and regrets he had initially suppressed, admitting to Jenn, “I came clean about that eventually.”
Jenn, however, was not swayed by his explanation, pointing out that he had concealed his true feelings from her. “For two months, I invested everything into you,” she continued, “while you kept your doubts hidden and made me fall deeper in love, fighting for a relationship that was already falling apart.”
Jenn hopes Devin realizes the importance of his promises, stating, “I couldn’t have behaved the way you did. When I love something, I nurture and value it—I don’t discard it the next day.”
