Why Demi Moore Hasn’t Been Focused on Dating: Insights from the Actress

American Actress, Demi Moore

Currently, dating isn’t a top priority for Demi Moore. In a recent interview with The Guardian, published on September 14, Moore shared that her main focus has been her career as she prepares for the release of her first new film in two years.

When asked about her dating life, Moore replied, “Do I date? I don’t know. It’s not really been where my focus is. Particularly in the past four, five years, my focus has been to lean into my work.”

Demi Moore reflects on her evolving role as a woman and her current focus on independence and freedom in later life

At 61, Moore explained that she has prioritized her craft after taking a break from working. “It’s not about a lack of interest in dating,” she continued. “It’s more about realizing that I’m now in a place where my choices are more deliberate rather than driven by any sense of need.”

Moore also reflected on women’s evolving roles, noting that they often become caretakers and are resilient. “As we achieve greater independence and freedom in our later years, we might not seek out responsibilities for others as much,” she said. “For the first time, we have real room to move without the burdens of others, although I do enjoy being with others and believe in our communal nature.”

Her comments on dating come shortly after she shared with Today on September 9 that she is in “the most exciting time of my life.”

Following the premiere of her new film at the Toronto International Film Festival on September 5, where she portrays a character experimenting with a black market drug to regain youth, Moore expressed her enthusiasm for her current stage in life.

“We represent the future for women, and I don’t want my daughters to think there’s an end,” Moore said. “To me, this is the most thrilling time of my life. With my children grown, I have the independence and freedom to redefine my path. I’m excited to be living this experience, even though I don’t know what it looks like yet.”

Moore, who has three daughters—Rumer, 36, Scout, 33, and Tallulah, 30—shared with PEOPLE at TIFF that her daughters haven’t yet seen her latest film, which she hopes they will view at the premiere for a more impactful experience. “They’ve seen the trailers and are super excited, but I think it would be more thrilling for them to see it with a big audience,” Moore said.

The Substance, which won the best screenplay award at the Cannes Film Festival in May, features Moore alongside Margaret Qualley and explores themes like body image, societal expectations, and aging. The film will hit theaters on September 20.
