Maggie Sajak and Scottish actor Ross McCall seem to be in the midst of a blossoming relationship. McCall hinted at his budding romance during his recent appearance on Jenny Mollen’s All the Fails podcast, though he didn’t directly name Sajak.
He did confirm the presence of a “girlfriend” in his life, noting that his dog still takes priority. “When the girlfriend’s over, she knows she’s on the floor,” McCall joked, prompting Mollen to tease, “So she’s spending a lot of time on the floor these days.”
In April, Us Weekly shared photos of the couple in Los Angeles, where Sajak, 29, and McCall, 49, were spotted looking affectionate while walking McCall’s dog. The two even shared a kiss during the outing, fueling further speculation about their relationship.
Despite his preference for keeping his personal life under wraps, McCall has shown his support for Sajak by “liking” several of her recent Instagram posts.
During the podcast, McCall also opened up about his past relationships, including two failed engagements. He didn’t name his ex-fiancées, Jennifer Love Hewitt and Alessandra Mastronardi, but reflected on what he seeks in a partner and the lessons learned from his previous relationships.
“I try to be private, despite being in the public eye. Sometimes things just don’t work out,” he said, adding, “I was heartbroken both times, but I still believe in partnership.”
McCall elaborated, “It wasn’t about losing in a competitive sense; it felt like something important was lost.”
He and Hewitt had started dating in 2005, and the two became engaged in 2007. However, their engagement ended in December 2008 before they could marry. Reflecting on that time, McCall said, “People thought I had a ‘player’ reputation after our breakup, but that wasn’t true.” Hewitt went on to marry Brian Hallisay in 2013.
His second engagement, to Italian actress Alessandra Mastronardi, became public in 2021 after they made their relationship official in 2019. Though the timing of their split remains unclear, Mastronardi married Gianpaolo Sannino in 2023.
In the podcast, McCall expressed how partnership is to him, particularly as he grows older. “As we age, we learn more from past relationships. I think if I had the mindset I have now back then, we wouldn’t have faced the same issues—like pride or ego. I guess I really am a hopeless romantic,” he admitted.
