Fans were taken on a nostalgic journey by Mediacorp artiste Yao Wenlong, who shared two photos featuring himself and local actress Cynthia Koh. One of the images highlighted their upcoming collaboration in the Channel 8 drama I Believe I Can Fly, set to premiere in February 2025, while the other captured moments from their earlier days.
In a social media post dated September 19, the Malaysian actor, who is married with two children, wrote in Chinese, “Cynthia and I played a couple in the 1993 TV series Happy Reunion, and now we portray husband and wife in I Believe I Can Fly in 2024.” He added, “One has matured after 30 years, but is still as beautiful as ever,” presumably complimenting Koh, who remains single.
Cavin Soh, a fellow actor who appeared with them in the time-travel series A Quest To Heal (2020), commented, “You are still as beautiful as ever,” though it was unclear whom he was referring to. Yao then jokingly asked, “What about me?”
Netizens chimed in, noting that both Yao, 53, and Koh, 50, continue to exude charm. One male user even mentioned that middle-aged men like him are among Koh’s admirers. In a 1994 interview with Lianhe Zaobao, Yao and Koh revealed they were former classmates in the Drama Artiste Course.
Despite Koh receiving an invitation to sign a contract with the then Singapore Broadcasting Corporation, Yao was not offered the same opportunity. He later participated in the local talent contest Star Search in 1993, finishing in the top 12, which led to his acting debut in Happy Reunion.
