Fans React as Keith Urban ‘Binges’ Nicole Kidman’s Show the Perfect Couple

Australian-American Singer-Songwriter/Guitarist, Keith Urban and Australian-American Actress/Film Producer, Nicole Kidman

The new Netflix series The Perfect Couple has captured the attention of television viewers, yet for Keith Urban, it’s an experience he’s already had. At the iHeart Radio Music Festival in Las Vegas on September 21, Urban, 56, revealed to PEOPLE that he had a chance to preview the show before its September 5 release.

“I watched the entire series ahead of its debut and couldn’t stop,” he shared. “It’s been fantastic, and so many people have approached me to express their love for it.”

This six-episode limited series is a murder mystery inspired by Elin Hilderbrand’s bestselling novel, featuring Nicole Kidman and Liev Schreiber as a wealthy couple living in an extravagant Nantucket home.

Urban reveals he’s great at keeping secrets and won’t spoil the twists in The Perfect Couple, despite having watched the entire series

Despite knowing the series’ conclusion, Urban remains unconcerned about revealing spoilers. “I’m an excellent keeper of secrets,” he stated. “I’ll take those secrets to my grave.”

While Kidman, 57, is focusing on her new project, Urban has just launched his album, High, which was released on September 20. He originally intended to put out a different album last year. “I ended up scrapping another record,” he disclosed. “I had completed an album with 13 tracks in early 2023, but decided to discard most of it.”

This choice stemmed from frustration, as he felt the album didn’t convey the emotional resonance he sought. “When I’m unsure about my direction, I often start by figuring out what I don’t want, and apparently, I made the record that didn’t align with what I wanted,” he explained.

However, High features just four tracks from the previously abandoned album. Reflecting on the challenges he faced during that time, Urban said, “It was a tough period for me, but I kept pursuing what felt right. Now that the record is completed, I look back and feel grateful that I stayed true to my instincts.”

Sporting a red and black checkered shirt, black t-shirt, and matching pants, Urban performed “Messed Up As Me” during the festival. He plans to showcase additional songs from High during his upcoming residency at Fontainebleau in Las Vegas, which starts in October.

“I’m relieved that these songs are finally out, and it’s a fresh setting,” he noted. “I enjoy gauging what resonates in the space and how we can adapt our performance to the audience.”
