Kim Kardashian enlisted the help of a private investigator and former LAPD captain to track down a suspected stalker who appeared at her Malibu mansion, In Touch exclusively reports. Court documents obtained by In Touch reveal that Kim, 43, hired LA-based Black Box Security Inc. to locate Melvin Jeffery Conley.
John Romero, Director of Investigations at Black Box Security, provided a statement as part of Kim’s request for a permanent restraining order against Melvin. Romero was tasked with finding Melvin and reported his efforts to the court.
He explained that a process server was sent to Melvin’s mother’s residence in Sacramento, where she stated that her son no longer lived there and was homeless in Los Angeles.
“After unsuccessful attempts at the only known address, I’ve tried various ways to locate and serve Mr. Conley,” Romero stated. “Attempts to contact him by phone were also unsuccessful, as his number went straight to a message saying he is not accepting calls.”
The investigator further noted that searches through jail records and inquiries with police departments in L.A. and surrounding areas yielded no results in locating Melvin. A hearing on September 20 resulted in Kim receiving an extension to serve Melvin.
Another court date is set for November 1.
Kim’s temporary restraining order remains in effect, granting protection for her and her family. Back in August, Kim filed a petition in Los Angeles Superior Court requesting protection for herself and her children, North, Saint, Chicago, and Psalm.
In her court filing, Kim identified Melvin as a stalker and stressed the need for safety measures against him. She stated, “Melvin Jeffrey Conley is a stalker. I have no relationship with him.”
Kim first became aware of Melvin when her friend, Emma Roberts, informed her about the man who had broken into her home and expressed his desire to contact Kim. Her security team, with Emma’s help, was able to reach Melvin by phone, during which he admitted to entering Emma’s home without permission, according to the petition.
Emma, 33, was granted a restraining order against Melvin earlier this year. Kim believes Melvin appeared at her mother Kris Jenner’s home on May 9, where security prevented him from getting inside. She also claims he showed up again on July 8 at the perimeter fence of her Malibu residence, trying to make “contact.”
“One of my security officers believed [Melvin] was planning to jump the fence,” Kim explained. She added that Melvin admitted to security that he had intended to jump and repeated false claims he had made earlier.
“The location of my Malibu house has never been made public and is not easy to find. The fact that [Melvin] discovered the address and traveled all the way from Sacramento shows the extent to which he is willing to go to reach me and my children,” Kim said.
“This situation has caused me extreme stress and emotional distress. I’m especially worried that he will continue to try to contact me.” “I fear that without a restraining order, Mr. Conley will persist in his attempts to reach me, which could lead to violence against me and my children,” she concluded.
