Tensions have arisen between Brad Pitt and his children, as they appear to be aligning with Angelina Jolie despite their contentious divorce proceedings.
However, the 60-year-old actor remains determined and is enlisting the help of his girlfriend, Ines De Ramon, to facilitate the reconciliation he desperately desires, according to an exclusive source for In Touch.
The insider clarified, “Brad still has the rights to see Vivian and Knox. Legally, a custody arrangement is in place, but he’s not the type to enforce that.” His desire to connect with his children stems from their choice to see him.
Almost three months after Shiloh, his daughter submitted a petition in Los Angeles Superior Court on her 18th birthday, May 27, a judge granted her request to drop Pitt from her last name, now identifying simply as Shiloh Jolie. This decision has deeply affected Brad.
Previously, a second insider shared with In Touch that the news “blindsided” the Benjamin Button actor, although he wasn’t entirely taken aback. “He believes Angelina has gradually turned the children against him.
She influenced their choice to distance themselves from their father,” the insider remarked, adding that Shiloh did not inform Brad before her decision.
Angelina, 49, filed for divorce from Brad in September 2016, citing irreconcilable differences. By April 2019, they were legally declared single, yet the divorce itself remains unresolved.
The split followed serious allegations regarding Brad’s behavior, with claims from Angelina’s attorney stating he “choked one of the children and struck another in the face” during a confrontation, and also “grabbed Jolie by the head and shook her.”
Since their separation, Brad has prioritized his sobriety, aided by Ines, 31, who supports his well-being through daily yoga and meditation practices to help him stay focused. “He remains optimistic that a resolution is possible, especially since visits were happening weekly just a few months ago,” the source noted.
As the children of Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt grow older, their paths have shifted. “Ines has always been respectful, never pushing for time with the kids until now, and Brad sees her as his secret weapon. He believes that once they meet her, they will recognize how wonderful she is and could easily accept her as a potential stepmother,” the insider said.
Brad is open to trying anything at this point, and Ines is eager to assist, provided it won’t create further issues with Angelina. In Touch previously reported that the estranged couple agreed to a truce following their son Pax’s serious motorcycle accident in July, coming together to support his recovery.
“It’s all about reconnecting the kids with Brad. He hasn’t given up hope and firmly believes they will want to see him again. He feels Ines is his best chance to help facilitate that reunion,” the source expressed. “Her warm and diplomatic nature convinces Brad that she stands a real chance of persuading Angelina and the kids to show him some compassion.”
