Usher is marking a special occasion for his youngest son as he turns three. On Monday, Sept. 20, the 45-year-old singer shared a delightful collection of photos and videos on Instagram to celebrate his son Sire’s birthday with his wife, Jenn Goicoechea.
At a Cars-themed party, the father and son are seen playing with a Lightning McQueen toy car, enjoying chocolate cake, and sharing laughs. “Celebrating Sire!! Happy birthday to U!” the proud father of four wrote in the post.
In another image, Usher is captured wearing a birthday hat while clapping for his little one, who stands excitedly over a large birthday cake with colorful Cars balloons behind him.
A video shared in the post showcases Usher in full dad mode, as he picks up the cake and enthusiastically shouts, “Who wants cake?” The three-year-old guests cheer, “Me!” while Sire eagerly points at his dad.
Along with Sire, Usher and Goicoechea are parents to daughter Sovereign Bo, 3, as well as sons Usher “Cinco” V, 16, and Naviyd Ely, 15, from his previous marriage to Tameka Foster.
Recently, the Grammy-winning artist participated in an interview for The Cut’s inaugural solo print issue, where he shared insights into his relationship with his children.
He acknowledged that while he strives to shield his kids from some of life’s difficulties, he understands it’s not always possible. Instead, he focuses on embracing emotional moments, using music as a bridge to connect with them.
“I try to coddle my kids to protect them from emotions and life and love and sex – you can’t!” Usher explained to the publication. “They want to experience things too. Why make them feel as though they need to hide it?”
He added, “One of the greatest gifts I could ever give to one of my children is to be able to tell them, ‘I know exactly how you feel right now. Listen to this song.'” Usher described his home as a “mini art gallery,” highlighting that his kids are the centerpieces of his life.
