Chrissy Teigen and her family are gearing up for the Halloween season with plenty of excitement. On Saturday, Oct. 5, the 38-year-old model and author opened up to PEOPLE at ChainFEST LA about how she and her husband, John Legend, are preparing their four children — Luna, 8, Miles Theodore, 6, Esti Maxine, 20 months, and Wren Alexander, 15 months — for the spooky celebrations ahead.
“Halloween is one of our favorite times,” she revealed. “But these days, it’s more focused on the kids. Honestly, I prefer it that way — it’s cute, fun, happens during the day, and I still get to sleep early!”
Over the years, Teigen and her family have pulled off impressive group costumes, including a Maleficent and Sleeping Beauty theme in 2019 and a transformation into the Addams Family in 2021. This year, however, things may be different as her son Miles has started expressing his own costume ideas.
“I’ve thrown some family costume suggestions their way, but the kids have no clue who they are. They’re like, ‘Who’s that?’” she shared. “Miles is all about Marshmello, the DJ, so that’s his pick. They’re not feeling the family theme right now,” she admitted with a smile. As for her younger kids, Teigen joked, “You can still get the babies to wear whatever you want.”
At ChainFEST, which is celebrated as the “world’s largest gathering of chain restaurant fans,” Teigen reminisced about her go-to spots growing up, saying, “Back in Seattle, we had places like Coco’s and Denny’s, but Claim Jumper was where we went for something special. That was the fancy one for graduations or big accomplishments.”
Earlier in the week, on Oct. 2, she had shared a few family moments on Instagram, including a photo of Luna taking a professional snapshot of her mother while dressed in a bright green dress and lavender sandals, fully focused on her task.
Teigen also posted several photos from recent outings with her children, including a trip to the Hammer Museum K.A.M.P. 2024 in Los Angeles, capturing the busy week in her caption: “What a week!”
