When Dr. Bojana Janković entered his life, Michael Weatherly found a deep and lasting connection. The former NCIS actor crossed paths with Janković at a bar in Canada back in 2007, and they went on to marry two years later in September 2009.

She is a highly qualified internist
Dr. Janković is a board-certified internal medicine physician with a collection of accolades to her name. After earning her bachelor’s degree in biophysics, she graduated from the University of British Columbia with a medical degree. She furthered her training through a residency at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center and West LA Veterans Affairs.
Her education didn’t stop there; she pursued a fellowship in integrative medicine at the University of Arizona and received functional medicine training at the Institute for Functional Medicine. Among her achievements, she was recognized as Southern California’s Top Doctors’ Rising Star in 2016 and 2017, later receiving Top Doctor honors in New York in 2018 and 2019.
She’s appeared on Today and Rachael Ray as a medical expert and shares health information on her social media. Her practice, located in New York City, focuses on treating chronic conditions and emphasizes preventative medicine and health optimization.
After leaving NCIS in 2016, Weatherly joked that Janković likely sees him more as a patient than a husband due to their busy schedules.
Their first meeting happened at a bar
Weatherly first encountered Janković in 2007 while out with friends at a bar in Vancouver, Canada. Reflecting on the moment in a 2010 PEOPLE interview, Weatherly recalled his friend asking if he was lonely. “I told her, ‘Not really. I’m pretty content. It’s working for [George] Clooney,’” he shared.
He soon spotted Janković across the room, catching glimpses of what he described as a “ravishing beauty.” Janković added, “We made eye contact, and that was it.” The couple maintained a long-distance relationship for two years before she moved to Los Angeles, just ahead of their wedding.
She actively engages in charity work
Janković is committed to various charitable causes outside of her medical career and family life. She sits on the board of directors for the Environmental Working Group and Lifeline New York, the latter supporting Serbian children and medical facilities in need. She’s also been involved with the Tryall Fund, a nonprofit that promotes education and healthcare services in Jamaica.
Beyond charity, Janković is an avid competitive Latin ballroom dancer and enjoys spending time outdoors, with her pets, and cooking up new recipes.
Their wedding took place in 2009
Weatherly and Janković exchanged vows on Sept. 30, 2009. The actor had previously been married to Amelia Heinle, his co-star from Loving and The City. They share a son, August, born in 1996.
Describing that period of his life to PEOPLE in 2017, Weatherly called the divorce “a very challenging time.” Yet, he explained that his split with Heinle taught him valuable lessons he brought into his second marriage. “When I got remarried, I was determined to avoid that kind of heartache. My marriage and kids are my proudest accomplishments,” he noted.
She is a mother of two
In 2012, Weatherly announced that he and Janković were expecting their first child, and they welcomed their daughter Olivia on April 10, 2012. Weatherly shared the happy news on X (formerly Twitter), writing, “Bojana and I are thrilled to introduce OLIVIA WEATHERLY! #SpecialAgentWeatherly.”
He later revealed the meaning behind their daughter’s name, explaining that Bojana’s name, which is Serbian, means “war” or “warrior.” Olivia, on the other hand, symbolizes peace. “We’ve got a Tolstoy novel going on now: Mother and daughter, war and peace!” he joked. In 2013, right before Olivia’s first birthday, the couple announced they were expecting again. Their son Liam was born on Oct. 29, 2013.
Weatherly playfully tweeted after Liam’s birth, “Beautiful Bojana gave birth to 10 lb. Liam today, which just happens to be the most important day—NCIS Tuesday! #NCIS.” When he departed NCIS in 2016, Weatherly expressed how much he was enjoying more time with his family.
“The kids love having me around because I can’t say no to them. I’m completely wrapped around their little fingers,” he confessed, adding, “I’m working on finding a balance between being the fun dad and the disciplinarian.” Balancing work and family life remains a challenge, but Weatherly is committed to making it work for his kids.
