Jamie Lee Curtis is thrilled to witness Lindsay Lohan embracing motherhood! At the 2024 Gala for Children’s Hospital Los Angeles on Saturday, October 5, the 65-year-old actress shared her excitement with PEOPLE about reuniting with her Freaky Friday co-star, who has recently stepped into her role as a new mom while filming the much-anticipated sequel, Freakier Friday.
Curtis expressed her enjoyment of the entire experience, highlighting how much fun it has been to reconnect with Lohan, 38, who welcomed her first child, a son named Luai, with her husband Bader Shammas in 2023. She noted that Lohan is always in “mom mode,” emphasizing her joy in this new role: “It’s tough to pull her away from being a mom.”
Though Lohan didn’t bring her baby to the set, Curtis mentioned that her husband and son frequently came by to see her. “Bader and Luai would wait for her in her trailer so they could go home together,” she explained.
In August, during Disney’s D23 fan event in Anaheim, California, Curtis and Lohan revealed their wishes to swap places with someone else. Lohan playfully responded, “Anyone? Maybe my baby,” describing her son as pure joy and expressing a desire to see life from his perspective. Curtis chimed in, saying she would love to play basketball like WNBA star Caitlin Clark, noting her admiration for Clark’s talent.
The Children’s Hospital Los Angeles 2024 Gala aimed to celebrate “brave patients, as well as the extraordinary physicians, researchers, and caregivers who foster hope and promote healthier futures for children,” according to the event’s website. Outstanding figures, including AEG, Bernadette, Sugar Ray Leonard, and Chuck Lorre, received the Courage to Care Award, recognizing their commitment to philanthropy and community service.
Hosted by Jon Cryer and his wife, Lisa Joyner, the gala featured co-chairs Jimmy Kimmel and Molly McNearney, along with Kristin and Jeffrey Worthe. Demi Lovato entertained attendees with a performance of some of her most popular hits.
