Benjamin Hall welcomes a new addition to his family. With the arrival of their fourth child, Benjamin Hall’s family is expanding! The Fox News journalist, who faced life-threatening injuries while covering the war in Ukraine, and his wife Alicia have welcomed their daughter, Sage Scarlett Jennifer Hall, as confirmed by a representative for the couple.
Baby Sage was born on Friday, September 6, weighing 5 pounds, 15 ounces at birth. Hall expressed his hopes for their daughter, saying, “Someone sage is someone who is calm and wise — I hope that our Sage will embody those qualities.”

He further explained, “In ancient times, a sage was also a healer, and after everything we’ve been through over the last few years, that fits perfectly.”
Reflecting on the world around them, he added, “We generally live in an era that is far from sage — it’s too immediate and fast-paced, and people rarely take the time to think, learn, and reflect. I hope that Sage and our other daughters will challenge that.”
Sage’s middle name carries importance, honoring two pivotal women in her life: Scarlett is named after Alicia’s mother, while Jennifer honors Hall’s mother.
Hall shared how their other daughters—Honor, Iris, and Hero—have already taken on the role of babysitters, though he noted some competition among them for the chance to hold the new baby. He remarked, “Our dog Bosco is already bringing her toys, eagerly waiting to play, and despite being a large dog, he is incredibly gentle with her.”
Reflecting on the moment he first held Sage, Hall said, “I was reminded that nothing in the world matters as much as family. Nothing.” He hopes to teach her kindness, thoughtfulness, curiosity, bravery, hard work, and perseverance.
Additionally, he sees Sage as a symbol of resilience. “After everything that happened in Ukraine and my injuries, she reminds me that nothing can hold you back. Even if you’re knocked down, you can rebuild and come back even stronger.”
In March 2023, Hall spoke with PEOPLE about his challenging recovery after sustaining injuries in Ukraine, which resulted in the loss of one leg, a foot, and impaired function in a hand and an eye.
He had traveled to Ukraine in late February 2022 to cover the revealing Russian invasion and its devastating impact on lives. Acknowledging the risks, he stated, “The only way to tell a good story is to be there.”
Just over two weeks into his assignment, on March 14, 2022, Hall ventured outside Kyiv to capture footage of a ravaged town nearby. However, as he returned from the shoot after a productive day, his vehicle was struck by a barrage of Russian missiles.
Despite the challenges he faced, Hall emphasized his gratitude, saying, “I look at my injuries and don’t worry about them at all because I’m here with my family.”
