Hannah Smith, a former contestant on Love Island USA, found herself in legal trouble with two felony charges following an altercation where she allegedly threatened and tried to punch a police officer.
The altercation revealed on September 30, when Smith, who appeared in season 6 of the reality show, was removed from an Atlanta concert venue for disruptive behavior, as noted in police reports from TMZ and The U.S. Sun.
After she was escorted out, a police officer attempted to assist Smith in getting into an Uber, at which point she reportedly attempted to punch the officer with a closed fist but missed.

Authorities then arrested Smith, who, while in handcuffs, allegedly kicked at the officer repeatedly. On her way to jail, she also threatened to kill both the officer and the officer’s sister, according to reports.
Smith’s arrest occurred around 11:45 p.m. that night, and she was held on an $8,000 bond, per jail records acquired by PEOPLE. She has since been released from custody.
She faces two felony counts: obstruction of a law enforcement officer and making terroristic threats. Neither the Cobb County Police Department nor a representative for Smith responded to requests for comment on the situation.
Despite the arrest, Smith has resumed activity on her social media accounts, where she continues to share photos and videos without addressing the incident. During her time on Love Island USA, Smith gained popularity quickly but didn’t last long in the villa.
After briefly connecting with both Kendall Washington and Hakeem White, she aimed to form a relationship with fellow contestant Miguel Harichi. However, Harichi eventually chose to couple with Olivia “Liv” Walker, making Smith the first contestant from the original lineup to be eliminated.
In an interview with Today in June, Smith reflected on Harichi’s behavior, describing him as “flirty” but secretive about his decisions. She expressed surprise when he picked Liv, stating, “I thought I had a chance, but clearly, I was wrong.”
Speaking about her brief pairing with Washington, Smith shared that she was glad they met, noting how much they had in common and how they formed a playful bond in the villa.
Smith praised Washington, calling him a genuine person, adding that even though their connection didn’t last, she had nothing negative to say about him. For fans of the show, Love Island USA is now available for streaming on Peacock.
