Insights have emerged regarding Princess Diana’s views on Queen Camilla, previously known as Camilla Parker Bowles, and her relationship with the then-Prince Charles.
It is widely acknowledged that King Charles and Queen Camilla engaged in a lengthy affair while both were still married to other people. Former BBC royal correspondent Jennie Bond revealed that Diana actually had some positive sentiments about her husband’s rumored mistress.
During a recent appearance on The Sun’s “Royal Exclusive Live!” show, Bond shared details from her private meetings with Princess Diana at Kensington Palace. “She was a complex person, often confusing, but I had a genuine affection for her,” Bond recalled. “Diana welcomed me to the Palace several times for in-depth discussions.”
Bond elaborated on these conversations, stating, “We engaged in lengthy discussions, and she confided in me about nearly everything, much of which she later recounted in her Panorama interview.”
Diana famously gave an interview to BBC journalist Martin Bashir for the acclaimed news program Panorama in 1995. An investigation has since deemed the methods used to secure that interview as “deceitful.” Nevertheless, during that candid discussion, Diana shared her thoughts on her troubled marriage to King Charles.
Bond mentioned, “[Diana] expressed, ‘There were three of us in this marriage,’ reflecting on her feelings about infidelity and her perspective on Camilla. She believed that Camilla was loyal and discreet, deserving some recognition.”
The Sun’s royal photographer Arthur Edwards responded to Bond’s revelations by expressing surprise, saying, “I’ve never heard that before, Jennie. That’s really remarkable.”
When asked why she had not disclosed these surprising insights earlier, Bond explained, “Diana always insisted, ‘Jennie, this is just between you and me,’ as I was leaving. So what could I do?”
Earlier reports indicated that Diana provoked Camilla by donning outfits designed by Dale “Kanga” Tyron, who was also rumored to be having an affair with King Charles.
Additionally, Diana’s protection officer, Ken Wharfe, recounted an incident illustrating her frustration when her husband allegedly vanished with Camilla at a gathering. Speaking to ITV’s Lorraine (as reported by the Mirror), Wharfe said, “I went outside to find Diana, who urgently told me, ‘You have to help me; I can’t find my husband or Camilla.'”
He added, “Naturally, I couldn’t refuse, as it was clear she was in distress. Eventually, we located the Prince and Camilla, sitting on a sofa in the basement, just talking.”
