The recent divorce filing by Park Jiyeon, a singer from the K-pop group T-ara, and baseball player Hwang Jae Gyun marks the end of their two-year marriage.
On October 5, Jiyeon’s lawyer announced the couple’s decision, attributing their split to irreconcilable differences, as reported by Korea JoongAng Daily. The statement elaborated that after spending time apart, they could not resolve their issues and opted for divorce.
Both Jiyeon and Hwang have subsequently removed images of each other from their Instagram accounts. They exchanged vows in December 2022, with famous guests at their wedding, including IU and BTS’s Jin.
For months, there had been whispers of trouble in their relationship, particularly after Jiyeon ceased sharing posts featuring Hwang. Speculation intensified in September when Hwang was spotted socializing with friends, including women, while out drinking.
Newscribe revealed that before her marriage to Hwang, Jiyeon had a brief relationship with actor Lee Dong Gun, who was reportedly unfaithful to her with actress Jo Yoon Hee. Just three months following his breakup with Jiyeon, Lee married Jo.
At 31, Jiyeon made her debut with T-ara in 2009 and has contributed to numerous hit songs and television dramas. Hwang, 37, plays professionally for KT Wiz and has experience in both the Korean Baseball Organization and Major League Baseball.
