Kody Brown recently shared his perspective on what he believes his children resent him for. In the latest episode of Sister Wives, which aired on Sunday, October 6, a heated argument got revealed between Kody and Robyn Brown before the cameras began rolling, prompting Kody to leave in his car alone.
Robyn described the situation’s origins, saying, “I was putting pressure on Cody to work on his relationships with his kids, and it triggered him and upset him.”
Offering his viewpoint during a confessional, Kody stated, “What has happened is in the divorce — in the divorces — is the ugly finger of blame has come out. ‘Dad, you were never at my house,’ ” he recounted.
He went on to explain, “I’m sorry, I had four wives. I was at your house, though, because the other wife was complaining that I was at your house.” After his drive, Kody and Robyn reconvened outside to continue their discussion in a more composed manner.
“I just don’t understand why you’re not reaching out to them more,” Robyn urged Kody regarding his children, emphasizing that “they’re hurting.” Kody then reflected on a recent family wedding, noting that some of his kids had avoided speaking to him, implying that they are the ones distancing themselves from him.
“They’re purposefully leaving me out of their lives to punish me for a crime I did not commit,” he told Robyn. “I am only guilty of not falling madly in love with their mothers.”
He further remarked, “It’s an unrealistic expectation for grandparents to be in their grandchildren’s lives all the time,” adding that it’s particularly challenging when families are relocated across the country.
The conversation then turned to Janelle’s daughter, Madison, with Kody claiming, “Every time I talk to her, she spreads gossip about me to the rest of the family.” He elaborated, saying, “Our family was killed by gossip.”
In a confessional, Janelle refuted Kody’s claims, stating, “Cody has this narrative about Madison where she’s such the gossip, but he is as big of a gossip.” Back in the scene, Kody expressed to Robyn, “I will work, I will reach out to, I will love those children who will allow me to do it. And in time, maybe the rest of them will come back around.”
