In an interview with Nikki Glaser for Interview magazine, the superstar opened up more than anyone might have anticipated about her highly publicized breakup, its impact on her, and the insights she gained from the experience.
Reflecting on this chapter of her life, Lopez remarked, “I was thinking about this time in my life, and I’m like, ‘That’s not what I thought it was going to turn out like.'” She noted that her separation and the professional challenges she faced recently led her to realize, “No, this is exactly where I needed to be, to lead me to where I want to go.”
When Glaser asked if she regretted the relationship or the decisions she made because of its outcome, Lopez replied firmly, “Not one second. That doesn’t mean it didn’t almost take me out for good. It almost did.”
Now that she has moved past it, she reflects, “‘Fk, that is exactly what I needed. Thank you, God. I’m sorry it took me so long. I’m sorry that you had to do this to me so many times.
I should have learned it two or three times ago. I get it. You had to hit me really hard over the head with a fking sledgehammer. You dropped the house on me. Don’t have to do it again.'”
Lopez’s history includes six engagements, to Ojani Noa in 1997, Cris Judd in 2000, Marc Anthony in 2004, and Alex Rodriguez in 2019, as well as twice to Ben Affleck, in 2002 and 2022. Out of these engagements, she married four men: Noa, Judd, Anthony, and Affleck during their second commitment.
During her conversation with Glaser, she expressed a sense of clarity, stating, “I finally got it!” While Lopez acknowledges the valuable lessons learned, she also recognizes that this journey has been exceptionally challenging for her.
