More than a year has passed since Princess Kate was last seen wearing a sparkling tiara, and her absence is understandable. The Princess of Wales has been undergoing treatment for cancer since announcing her diagnosis in March, leading her to miss a state banquet in June due to chemotherapy sessions.
However, an exciting royal event has been announced by Buckingham Palace for Friday, October 11. On December 3 and 4, King Charles III and Queen Camilla will welcome the Amir of Qatar, His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, along with his wife, Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher bint Hamad bin Suhaim Al Thani, for a state visit.
You may be curious about the connection to tiaras, and here’s the link. The palace traditionally hosts a lavish banquet during official state visits, prompting members of the Royal Family to don their finest tuxedos, gowns, and, of course, their tiaras.
According to royal historian Jessica Storoschuk of An Historian About Town, December’s banquet is an occasion that the Princess may be eager to attend, especially since she missed the Japanese state visit in June. “Considering her role as the wife of the heir and her typical involvement in royal duties, she is likely to attend if her health permits,” Storoschuk observed.
As the Princess has gradually resumed her royal responsibilities this fall—meeting with families of three girls tragically killed in a recent knife attack and visiting a teenage cancer patient earlier in the month—she has emphasized that she will engage in events when she feels ready.
“Throughout her marriage, Catherine has demonstrated her understanding of the influence of more formal events like state dinners, which include the elegance of a gown and tiara,” Storoschuk remarked. Over the years, the royal has dazzled in several remarkable tiaras at state banquets.
