Julia Fox has reflected on her brief relationship with Ye, who was formerly known as Kanye West. In a recent interview with The Times, published on Saturday, Oct. 12, Fox expressed regret, stating, “I regret that relationship so much.
I hate it! It was only a few weeks but enough to last me a lifetime.” She added that the experience put her in an extremely uncomfortable position, which she noted was important given her varied life experiences. “I don’t want to be known for being anyone’s girlfriend,” she emphasized.
Fox also revealed that it was not her decision to publicly announce their relationship shortly after they met in Miami on New Year’s Eve in 2021, following West’s highly publicized split from ex-wife Kim Kardashian.
“It wasn’t my idea for it to go public,” she clarified. “If anything, I was like, ‘We should wait,’ and then boom, it was done behind my back. I realized pretty quickly I was being used as a pawn.”
Their relationship was short-lived, with a representative for Fox confirming the couple’s split on Feb. 14, 2022. In her interview with The Times, she further discussed claims made in her memoir, Down the Drain, where she alleged that West, referred to as “the artist,” offered to pay for a “boob job,” insisted she wear only clothes he approved of, and requested she sign a non-disclosure agreement.
