Over the past four years, Chase Stokes has reached an extraordinary level of fame that few can attain. His portrayal of a beloved character in the hit Netflix series “Outer Banks” has propelled him to become one of Hollywood’s most recognizable faces.
In a recent interview with InStyle, Stokes shared that he is approaching his newfound success with a measured mindset. He remarked, “Life is so crazy. All I can do right now is control the next right thing.”
The Outer Banks star emphasizes teamwork, saying, “We share a love for this show.”
One topic that has captured the curiosity of his fans is his professional collaboration with ex-girlfriend Madelyn Cline while he is currently dating country music star Kelsea Ballerini. Stokes and Cline are actively filming the fourth season of “Outer Banks,” where they play romantic interests.
From June 2020 to November 2021, Stokes and Cline were in a real-life relationship before amicably parting ways. They promised to keep their personal lives separate from their characters, Sarah Cameron and John B.
Discussing their work together, Stokes noted, “I think when you have so many incredible people around both of us and you have such a shared love for something, I can’t imagine a world where we would disassociate.”
He further explained, “Maddie and I have really always made it a point that this show and these characters are components of our life that changed everything for us.
If we were not to honor that, we would be dishonoring ourselves and a lot of people who have invested into this show and these characters.” Stokes emphasized that despite the changes in their personal lives, “the show is our first love.”
In a February 2023 interview with Cosmopolitan, Cline echoed similar sentiments about maintaining professionalism while working with her ex. “We always said that the job remains untouched.
Nothing else, personal or negative, will touch the job. And while that’s not always easy, our job is to leave the show better than we found it,” she stated. Cline has opted to keep her romantic relationships private, while Stokes expressed his enjoyment in sharing his relationship with Ballerini publicly.
He acknowledged, “Look, it’s a delicate dance for everybody, balancing what’s public and private. For me, it can be a bizarre thing to watch people hide their relationships.”
Stokes elaborated on his perspective, saying, “Because it’s natural, you get so excited to talk about your person who wins something; you want to celebrate all the moments within life. So I think for us, it was kind of a no-brainer to be a little open.”
He believes that hiding their relationship would feel insincere. “We just really value real life. So I think being in a relationship, but hiding it from the world, would feel very false to both of us,” he noted.
Stokes also shared that his friends from back home have reached out since he began dating Ballerini, teasing, “Ah, there he is: Hollywood went Hollywood, and now he’s getting back to his roots.”
