Bianca was aware of the challenges that came with dating Daniel on Life After Lockup, yet the realities of their relationship outside of prison proved to be more than she anticipated.
Since Daniel’s release, the couple has faced numerous obstacles. In an exclusive preview for the upcoming Oct. 18 episode of Life After Lockup, Bianca discovers that if she wants to maintain her relationship with Daniel, she may need to stop drinking.
Bianca’s connection with Daniel began because she sought to meet someone who had experienced incarceration, particularly after being injured by a drunk driver. Daniel’s history includes multiple DUIs, which have impacted both their lives.
Alcohol has played a role in their relationship, and if they hope to make it work now that they’re together in the real world, changes are necessary. Bianca is confronted with the reality that she must give up drinking on Life After Lockup.
In the preview clip, Bianca meets Daniel, his parents, and his cousin at a bar. When Daniel’s father, James, reminds everyone that “part of the reason he got incarcerated was from drinking,” Bianca realizes she may have crossed a boundary.
While she doesn’t expect Daniel to drink, she overlooks how her drinking could trigger him, even if he’s not participating.
Feeling guilty, Bianca expresses her concerns to the producers, saying, “It’s not a good look for myself, and I feel bad. But I don’t think that was entirely my fault, because why should that even be a problem?”
Inside the bar, Daniel acknowledges that seeing Bianca and his cousin drink makes him want to join in. Bianca’s reaction, telling him he can take a shot, highlights the tension and the need for her to reconsider her drinking habits if she wants the relationship to succeed.
Daniel’s history with multiple DUIs necessitates that Bianca curb her drinking, especially when he’s around. Daniel’s time in prison resulted from receiving four DUIs, which is the primary reason Bianca should reduce or eliminate her drinking, particularly in his presence.
It’s possible that Daniel’s parole conditions include abstaining from alcohol. In Arizona, where he was incarcerated, alcohol screenings can be part of the terms of parole for those released from prison.
Understanding this aspect of Daniel’s post-incarceration life is crucial for Bianca as she navigates the adjustments needed to support him and keep him out of prison. However, making these changes may prove to be more challenging than anticipated.
