Danielle Peazer, who previously dated Liam Payne, is sharing the last message he sent her prior to his tragic passing. On October 20, Peazer posted a heartfelt message on Instagram, reminiscing about their time together and highlighting a kind note from Payne about her family.
“Your message from a couple of weeks ago, expressing joy for the love I found with Sonny and Mia, is something I will always treasure,” she mentioned, referencing her partner, Sonny Jay, and their daughter, Mia.
Payne, who tragically died at the age of 31 after a fall from a balcony in Buenos Aires on October 16, met Peazer in 2010 while competing on The X Factor, where she was a backup dancer. The couple was together for over two years.
In her message, Peazer emphasized that being a father was Payne’s proudest achievement. “His most remarkable role and the one he cherished most among all his monumental successes was that of a father,” she reflected.
“It’s heartbreaking and unjust to think there’s now a child growing up without one of their parents,” she continued. “To Liam’s son, Bear, as well as his parents and sisters, my love, thoughts, and strength are with you. The depth of this loss is unimaginable, and I will always support you in any way I can.”
Peazer also addressed Payne directly, using his initials, “LJP,” and expressed her disbelief at his passing. “Although I was aware of your struggles over the years, I hoped and prayed this day would never arrive. Now, we must confront the reality of living without you,” she wrote.
“During moments like this, people often say, ‘I hope he knew how much I cared,’ but I’m certain you understood how I felt. We excelled at being brutally honest with each other, whether it was something we wanted to hear or not.”
While she had once referred to Payne as her “favorite person in the whole world,” Peazer acknowledged that they had their differences during their relationship. “You could drive me crazy, and I probably annoyed you too,” she admitted.
“It was something we learned to accept about one another over 14 years; we could disagree on many things yet still be there for each other in times of need, laughing about our petty arguments just moments later,” she added.
Peazer reflected on their relationship, noting, “Even though our romantic involvement ended in 2013, that felt like just the beginning of our journey.” She acknowledged the unique experiences they shared from that point until last year, asserting, “Deep down, we always knew we would maintain a connection no matter where life led us.”
She expressed her understanding of Payne’s journey, stating, “It took you some time to discover the person you wanted to be for your own happiness. While many of us learn about ourselves in our teens and twenties, you spent those years giving so much to the world.”
Peazer wished he had realized, “You were always more than enough for this world without having to search for a role to fulfill just to make others happy.” She concluded by expressing gratitude to Payne for teaching her the importance of setting boundaries and protecting her heart.
“I’m sorry your story didn’t conclude differently, and I regret that you never had the chance to share more of your magic with the world,” she wrote before signing off with “Rest easy, my friend.” On October 19, Peazer had previously shared a brief tribute to Payne.
“Over the past few days, I’ve been trying to process the news of Liam’s death,” she posted on her Instagram Stories. “Thank you to everyone who has reached out with condolences and support—it means more than you know.”
