Anna Kendrick Shares Fun Memory of Microdosing with Brittany Snow

The two friends turned their giggles into heartfelt compliments, with Kendrick playfully suggesting a remake of Chinatown

Anna Kendrick recently shared a humorous recollection of a Halloween party that didn’t go as planned. During her appearance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert on October 23, she reminisced about a 2023 Halloween celebration with Brittany Snow, where they both decided to experiment with microdosing mushrooms.

The 39-year-old actress explained that she thought she could handle it but quickly realized she was in over her head. “We went to this party, and someone suggested microdosing mushrooms, which is a popular trend. I thought, ‘Sure, I’m fun,’” Kendrick joked, highlighting how saying it out loud felt necessary to affirm her fun-loving nature.

She described consuming a “little chocolate bar” intended for sharing but ended up cutting her portion in half. “That night taught me that chocolate isn’t the best way to deliver mushrooms, as sometimes it doesn’t mix well, leading to unexpected doses,” she noted. As she started feeling excessively high, she repeatedly exclaimed, “Oh no, I’m so high!”

Fortunately, Snow, 38, came to her aid, noticing Kendrick was overwhelmed and decided to join her in taking more mushrooms. “There we were, grinning like the Joker in a corner, streaming tears, but feeling fantastic,” Kendrick recounted.

Their laughter turned into heartfelt compliments as they admired each other’s beauty and talents, with Kendrick even suggesting Snow should remake Chinatown. Reflecting on her experience, Kendrick mentioned that she shared her story for “entertainment purposes only,” cautioning viewers about the perils of drugs. “Learn from my mistakes, kids,” she advised.

In a separate conversation with PEOPLE, Kendrick spoke about the enduring bonds she has formed with her fellow Pitch Perfect stars over the years. “It’s remarkable how they’ve remained part of my life,” she said.

Despite her tough exterior, she expressed gratitude for the friendships developed during their decade-long collaboration, appreciating how they had worn down her defenses. Kendrick acknowledged, “They are some of the most rewarding relationships I have, and I feel incredibly fortunate they’ve stuck around.”

She isn’t alone in sharing such experiences; earlier this month, Michael Bublé humorously recounted his own mushroom microdosing mishap during a 2024 NHL All-Star Game press conference, where he joked about thinking he was in Blades of Glory. When asked if he was serious, he clarified that it was all in good fun, adding, “Of course I wasn’t! I do have a problem with bread.”
