Martha Stewart Reveals Ryan Reynolds’ Serious Side: ‘Not So Funny in Real Life’

Martha Stewart Names Stars She’d Rather Spend Time With Than Reynolds

While Ryan Reynolds is often associated with his comedic talent, Martha Stewart has a different opinion, stating he isn’t genuinely funny. During her guest appearance on Bilt Rewards’ November Rent Free game show, the lifestyle mogul shared her candid views on the Deadpool & Wolverine actor.

When asked about celebrities she believed respondents would name as the most enjoyable to hang out with, Stewart expressed confidence that her good friend Snoop Dogg would be among them. She speculated that Reynolds might also be included on that list but indicated he should not be.

Martha Stewart Doubts Ryan Reynolds’ Real-Life Humor

“He’s probably on the list just ‘cause he covers himself up in his movies and you don’t see his face — Ryan Reynolds, is he one of those?” she questioned, adding, “And you want to know something? He’s not so funny in real life. No, he’s not so funny. He’s very serious.”

In her personal preferences, Stewart mentioned she would choose Brad Pitt and George Clooney, saying, “I’d like to hang out with those guys.” When the Bilt CEO, Ankur Jain, brought up Taylor Swift, Stewart remarked, “I was only thinking men. Taylor Swift is lovely.” However, she then reconsidered, placing Swift at the top of her list, followed by Snoop Dogg.

“Then I would take Ryan off it, and I would put in somebody else,” she said, hinting at the changes in her ideal lineup. When Jain inquired about whom she would substitute, Stewart mentioned George Clooney, praising him as “fun” and “really nice to hang out with.”

Expressing surprise at her opinion of Reynolds, Jain prompted her to elaborate further on the star, who resides near her in Bedford, N.Y., with wife Blake Lively. “He’s a good actor,” she acknowledged. “He can act funny, but he isn’t funny. Maybe he can get to be funny again.” Stewart added with a hint of humor, “I’m going to get in trouble. He’s my neighbor.”

Stewart’s appearance on the game show was to promote her latest cookbook, Martha: The Cookbook: 100 Favorite Recipes, with Lessons and Stories from My Kitchen, which was released on October 22. Additionally, the month marked the debut of Martha, a new Netflix documentary directed by R.J. Cutler that chronicles her remarkable life.

“I just hope that everyone gets a few life lessons from the film and understands what’s been going on,” Stewart shared with PEOPLE at the New York premiere of the documentary.
