Duhamel and Mari have recently celebrated their inaugural Halloween as a family of three. On November 1, the couple showcased their festive spirit on Instagram while dressing up alongside their son Shepherd, born in January 2024. Embracing the Halloween theme, Duhamel and Shepherd coordinated their outfits as Beetlejuice, while Mari portrayed Dolores.
“Hope you all had a great Halloween!!” Duhamel shared as he captioned the family photo. In addition to Shepherd, Duhamel is also a father to 11-year-old Axl, whom he shares with ex-wife Fergie.
Earlier in May, Duhamel honored Mari on her first Mother’s Day by posting a heartfelt selfie on his Instagram Stories. The couple flashed smiles for the camera, as he expressed his admiration for her role as a mother.
“Here’s to you my love on your first Mother’s Day. What an amazing mommy you are to our baby Shepherd and Axl couldn’t ask for a better stepmother,” he wrote. “We’re beyond blessed to have you in our lives. And to all the mothers out there, thank you for holding it down and for raising us up. Happy Mother’s Day.”
Leading up to Shepherd’s arrival, Duhamel reflected on Axl’s endearing response to the news of becoming a big brother. In an interview with Parade, he recounted Axl’s concerns, asking, “‘Wait, now, am I going to be — You’re still going to love me, though, right?'”
Duhamel reassured him, saying, “Of course, I’m going to still love you,” to which Axl responded, “I’m still going to be your firstborn son, though, right?” The actor affirmed, “Yeah, you’re still the firstborn son!”
“He’s a really sweet kid. And he loves babies!” Duhamel remarked. “I was the same way at his age. I just have always loved babies. There’s something about them. And he’s really good with younger kids. So I think he’s going to be a great older brother.”
