Support for Martha Stewart comes from Hugh Jackman. The 56-year-old actor chimed in on the lighthearted rivalry between his close friend Ryan Reynolds, 48, and the 83-year-old lifestyle icon.
This exchange followed Stewart’s appearance as a special guest on Bilt Rewards’ November Rent Free game show, where she humorously remarked that Reynolds is “not so funny in real life.”
In response, Reynolds took to X (formerly Twitter) to share his thoughts, stating, “I’d disagree with her. But I tried that once. The woman is unexpectedly spry. She really closed the gap after a mile or so.”
Jackman, who recently starred alongside Reynolds in Deadpool & Wolverine, soon added his voice to the mix, siding with Stewart and responding to Reynolds’ post with, “Finally someone says it.”
For years, Jackman and Reynolds have enjoyed a playful feud. In a 2020 interview with The Daily Beast, Jackman speculated that Scarlett Johansson may have sparked their banter, as she was married to Reynolds from 2008 to 2011. (Johansson is now married to Blake Lively.)
Jackman recounted, “I used to ream him because I was very close friends with Scarlett, and Scarlett had just married Ryan. So when he came on set, I’d say, ‘Hey, you better be on your best behavior here, pal, because I’m watching,’ and we started ribbing each other that way.”
He continued, “And then it all escalated with the Deadpool thing and him calling me out, trying to manipulate me through social media to do what he wanted.” Recently, the two actors celebrated each other’s birthdays with heartfelt and humorous posts on their respective social media accounts in October.
Reynolds kicked off the celebrations by sharing a carousel of images with Jackman on Instagram, wishing him, “I hope we get to do this ’til we’re 90. Happy Birthday, @thehughjackman. A lot of years. A lot of adventures.”
A few days later, Jackman honored Reynolds’ birthday by posting a series of photos of the two of them on Instagram, captioning it, “On this day we celebrate Tammy … for delivering Ryan,” referencing Reynolds’ mother.
