All About Eliza, Pippa, and Lucky: Caterina Scorsone’s Adorable Daughters

Scorsone welcomed her first child, Eliza, in 2012, marking the start of her motherhood journey

Caterina Scorsone, renowned for her role as Dr. Amelia Shepherd, has embraced motherhood with dedication to her three children: Eliza, Pippa, and Lucky. Although her character navigates hesitance towards parenthood, Scorsone exemplifies a devoted mom in real life.

In 2012, Scorsone and her former spouse, musician Rob Giles, welcomed their first child, Eliza. The couple announced the birth of their second daughter, Paloma, affectionately called Pippa, in 2016.

Their family grew further in 2019 with the arrival of Lucinda, nicknamed Lucky. After a decade together, Scorsone and Giles separated in 2020 but have remained committed to co-parenting their daughters.

Scorsone is a passionate advocate for children with cognitive disabilities, inspired by Pippa

Reflecting on the joys and challenges of motherhood in 2019, Scorsone spoke with PEOPLE about embracing the unpredictable nature of parenting. “Developing a sense of humor is essential,” she remarked, noting the importance of laughter in overcoming the ego’s challenges.

With Pippa born with Down syndrome, Scorsone has become a passionate advocate for children with cognitive disabilities. In a conversation with PEOPLE in October 2020, she expressed that her daughter’s unique qualities ignited profound change within her family.

Eliza Giles, now 12, was born on July 6, 2012. Scorsone had a home birth in Los Angeles with midwives, cherishing the moment as a “beautiful miracle.” Though seen occasionally in family magazine covers, Eliza appears more drawn to entrepreneurial endeavors than acting. In a 2022 interview, Scorsone shared that they opened a bank account for Eliza, emphasizing financial independence and her budding interest in business.

The actress revealed that Eliza enjoys horseback riding, often taking lessons at a friend’s farm. “Our drives to the farm offer precious time for conversation,” Scorsone noted, highlighting the connection they share during these outings.

On November 4, 2016, Pippa joined the family, and Scorsone announced her arrival with an Instagram post celebrating the day’s purpose. The actress has been open about how Pippa’s diagnosis reshaped her understanding of motherhood, admitting her initial fears quickly vanished upon holding her daughter for the first time. “I realized how much I had limited my life before,” she recalled.

Scorsone conveyed that while Pippa’s diagnosis brings uncertainty, she recognizes that all parenting involves challenges. She expressed confidence in her daughter’s uniqueness, asserting, “Pippa is perfect exactly as she is.”

During a podcast interview in March 2019, Scorsone discussed explaining Pippa’s diagnosis to Eliza, framing it in terms of developmental differences rather than limitations. This perspective helped deepen her understanding of love and parenting, shifting her focus to appreciating individuals for their purpose rather than external traits.

In an essay for Good Morning America in October 2020, Scorsone emphasized advocacy for those with Down syndrome, proudly celebrating Pippa’s individuality and learning style. She articulated that supporting Pippa’s needs is essential for her daughter to thrive.

Lucinda “Lucky” Giles was born on December 13, 2019, and initially introduced to the world as Arwen before the family decided to use her middle name, Lucinda. Scorsone announced this change on social media shortly after her birth. Just weeks later, the couple’s split was confirmed, with both remaining committed to a supportive co-parenting relationship.

Following the separation, Scorsone embraced positivity during her first Mother’s Day alone. She reflected on the outpouring of love that filled her home, capturing the moment in a heartfelt Instagram post.

Lucky, described as laid-back yet resilient, enjoys exploring their garden. Scorsone appreciates the necessity for individual attention with each child, stating, “Checking in with each one is crucial. It’s much more peaceful that way.”
