Matt James and Rachael Kirkconnell’s love seems to be stronger than ever. Following the TCS New York City Marathon on November 3, the couple was stopped by the popular social media account @meetcutesnyc, where they shared a glance into their relationship.
James, 32, gave such a heartfelt answer about their connection that it nearly brought Kirkconnell, 28, to tears. When introducing themselves, they explained that they met on The Bachelor “four years ago” before being asked what they loved most about each other.

“That’s a hard one. There are just so many things I love,” Kirkconnell replied, adding that James “brightens everything” around him. She shared that his lively personality and positive energy have made her a better person.
James didn’t hold back on his feelings, either. Describing Kirkconnell, he called her his best friend and “biggest advocate,” appreciating her for her boundless support and selflessness. He sealed his admiration with a kiss on her forehead, sweetly affirming their connection.
When asked about the ups and downs of dating someone who runs marathons, Kirkconnell joked about being woken up at 3 a.m. on race day but admitted that seeing James achieve his goals was worth it.
As the video wrapped up, the couple shared what excites them most about the future. Initially laughing about upcoming “food” plans, James then gave a more heartfelt answer: “Having a family together,” which made Kirkconnell swoon.

While they have openly talked about building a family, an engagement is likely their next big step. James had previously mentioned to PEOPLE in February that they share the same future goals, saying, “I’m definitely excited for what the future looks like with us.” He hinted that his proposal would be “something special because Rachael’s very special.”
