Gypsy-Rose Blanchard has confirmed that her partner, Ken Urker, is the father of her unborn child. Blanchard, 32, who is expecting her first child, recently took a non-invasive prenatal paternity test that confirmed Urker is the biological father, not her former spouse Ryan Anderson. On November 5, she shared the news on Instagram, clarifying the situation.
“There has been a lot of speculation about our baby’s paternity, but we’ve known the truth from the start, and now it feels like the right time to set the record straight,” Blanchard posted. She attached an image of the test results, stating, “Ken is going to be an amazing father, and we’re so thrilled to be welcoming our baby girl into the world.”
In July, a Louisiana lawyer had told PEOPLE that Anderson could still be listed as the father on the baby’s birth certificate. According to Louisiana law, a husband or ex-husband is presumed to be the father if the mother was married or divorced within 300 days of childbirth, unless paternity is officially established.
Blanchard and Urker revealed they were expecting their first child together on July 9. However, at the time, Blanchard’s divorce from Anderson, whom she married in 2022, was still pending.
If the divorce wasn’t finalized by the baby’s arrival, Anderson’s name could have appeared on the birth certificate. For Urker to be listed, Anderson would need to sign an affidavit, or they would need to go to court for a paternity test, which has now been completed.
In a May interview with PEOPLE, Blanchard shared how she and Urker reconnected after her release from prison. They had originally met as pen pals while she was incarcerated. After Urker proposed in 2018, they broke up before her 2023 release. When Blanchard returned to the outside world, she was married to Anderson.
“Ken and I started by rekindling our friendship,” Blanchard explained. “It wasn’t a case of me jumping from one relationship to the next. We had both moved on, and we stayed in touch as friends before things evolved.”
Blanchard and Urker later discussed their relationship on The Viall Files podcast, where they revealed the challenges they’re facing due to her parole conditions. Since she’s still under parole restrictions, Blanchard is living with her parents, which means she and Urker won’t be able to live together after their baby is born.
“I’ll be living with my parents until my parole is over,” Blanchard said. “We’re working out how things will go after the baby arrives, figuring out how we’ll divide time between the two of us and manage co-parenting while being together.”
