Despite rumors of a divorce between Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck, their families remain as close-knit as ever. A prime example of this was Jennifer’s sister, Lynda Lopez, visiting Ben’s daughter Violet Affleck at Yale University, where the 18-year-old started her freshman year this fall.
Lynda, a journalist and author, shared a heartwarming selfie on Instagram with Violet, both posing in front of Yale’s picturesque autumn campus in New Haven, Connecticut. She also posted two other beautiful campus shots, captioning the images, “New Haven with my favorite Yalie!”
The bond between Jennifer and Violet has been well-documented, with the two spending time together multiple times since Ben and Jennifer officially separated.
Despite growing divorce rumors, Jennifer attended Violet’s graduation party at Jennifer Garner’s home in late May. Though Jennifer arrived with Ben, she left alone.
While Jennifer vacationed in the Hamptons over the summer without Ben, Violet stayed with her stepmother. A source revealed to Entertainment Tonight that Ben found their closeness “tricky.”
The excitement surrounding Violet’s departure for Yale was shared by both families. Just days before Jennifer and Ben’s divorce became public, a source told People that Ben was “very focused on getting Violet ready for move-in,” adding that the entire family had been eagerly anticipating the moment.
Jennifer filed for divorce on August 20 after two years of marriage and months of speculation, marking their official separation date as April 26. Since the filing, it has been evident that both Jennifer and Ben remain dedicated to their relationships with each other’s children.
This was apparent when the ex-couple, along with their respective kids, were spotted having lunch together in Los Angeles in mid-September. Ben has three children—Violet, Fin, and Samuel—while Jennifer shares twins Max and Emme with ex-husband Marc Anthony.
