Miranda Kerr recently shared the heartfelt family inspiration behind her youngest son’s name, revealing that Pierre, her 8-month-old, was named after her late grandfather, Peter. “His name is Pierre after my late grandfather, Peter. So French for Peter,” the 41-year-old model explained during the 2024 Baby2Baby Gala on Saturday, Nov. 9.
Kerr and her husband, Evan Spiegel, who also attended the gala, welcomed their son Pierre in February, adding him to their growing family with sons Dylan, 6, and Myles, 5. Kerr is also a mother to 13-year-old Flynn, whom she shares with her ex-husband Orlando Bloom.
Reflecting on her boys’ reaction to Pierre’s arrival, Kerr shared how her three older sons have embraced their new sibling. “They love him,” Kerr said, describing Pierre as “the light of our home.” She added, “He’s just a little ray of sunshine, and his brothers just adore him. When you’re having a new baby coming into the home, you often wonder, you’re like, ‘Oh, how are the boys going to react?’ But they adore him.”
Kerr recalled a touching moment from her pregnancy, revealing the special bond Pierre already shared with his brother Myles before he was born. “Ever since I was pregnant with Pierre, [Myles] would kiss my stomach every day, and now he continues to kiss and hug his brother every day because that’s how much he adores being a big brother,” she shared.
The 2024 Baby2Baby Gala was a star-studded event, with Kerr joined by celebrities such as Charlize Theron, Ashanti, Jessica Alba, Katy Perry, Heidi Klum, Ciara, Jennifer Garner, Ashley Graham, Nicole Richie, Anna Kendrick, and Paris Hilton.
In a June interview with The Sunday Times, Kerr expressed that Pierre has brought a sense of completion to her family. “I feel so blessed to have him,” she said. She also shared her long-standing desire to become a mother.
“Growing up, I was a bit of a tomboy. I would often watch my dad fix V8 car engines and fit hotdogs [mufflers] on to exhausts, but I always knew I wanted to be a mother,” Kerr said.
